Allianz Global Eastern Divisional Sales Manager Joins Advisors Asset Management

Gregory Shannahan Hired as Director of Internal Sales

MONUMENT, COLO.—September 28, 2017— Gregory Shannahan, former director, eastern division director, and acting national sales manager at Allianz Global, has taken on a new role as director of internal sales splitting his time between the San Antonio and Lisle offices of Advisors Asset Management (AAM). He will report to Charles Sickles, Managing Director, Head of Wholesale Distribution.

“Gregory’s impressive track record of working in the national sales market and his extensive experience of leading sales teams makes him an ideal choice for our firm. AAM has built its sales and distribution reputation on the strength of its investment solutions and seasoned product sales professionals, who have deep and long-standing relationships with the largest financial services firms and advisors,” said Sickles.

Shannahan’s appointment marks AAM’s expansion to recruit and build out the internal sales desk. The firm was founded more than 35 years ago and offers a wide array of income solutions for financial advisors and their clients.

Shannahan joins AAM with more than a decade of experience in national sales and relationship management at Allianz Global and Alliance Bernstein. He served in his previous role at Allianz Global since 2013, focusing on managing 13 retail sales territories from Maine to Florida. During that time he elevated the Allianz Global Eastern Division to number one national ranking in sales for three consecutive years.

“I have spent much of my career building and nurturing retail relationships with key decision makers in my sales manager role at Allianz Global, developing two “Value Add Programs” nationally recognized by UBS and Morgan Stanley,” Shannahan said. “I’m now positioned to draw on that experience to work with the internal sales desk here at AAM.”

Shannahan received his Bachelor of Arts in Management from the Merrimack College. He is a Certified Private Wealth Advisor (CPWA), a Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC), and Certified Investment Management of Accounts (CIMA) and holds the Series 6, 7, 24, 26, 51 and 63 FINRA licenses.
